I was taught the basics of the Black Magic camera, this included how to place the lens onto the camera. We went through how to correctly put the camera onto the tripod. After this I learnt how to record and how to adjust the exposure. I learnt what environments the light balance should be changed at and also how to pull  focus.

After filming this, we had a lesson on Premiere Pro. We where taught how to import files and how to cut them up with tools such as the razor tool. Although this lesson would have been useful to a beginner, I had already known how to use Premiere Pro.

CCR Task 2

"How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?"

The Primary target audience for my film would be ideally to males from the ages of 16 to 20. As our film is based in rural England, it would also be that they live in England and even more specifically in rural parts of England, like villages and towns.

I would think that their main interests would be video games, horror themed products (such as films) and comedy.

This beginning sequence is mysterious and creates many questions for the viewer.
The face reveal and the energetic music creates excitement and hype for the viewer. The familiar sight of a village might create some nostalgia and familiarity to the viewer. Although its accompanied by very energetic music, its still a very dark sequence as its still footage of someone who has just killed someone.

The pet lovers who are watching this film will find this scene cute as their is small little dog.

This sequence is very mysterious as no one knows why he is walking to the church.

This is quite a funny bit, so it will make all the comedy fans crack up in laughter over the villagers line.

This is the moment of realisation that the church is the reason why he has killed someone. This also leaves us on a cliffhanger as you don't know whats going to happen next.

I think we did a good job at keeping the audience engaged. Because are sequence was split into 3 parts, the viewer couldn't really get bored as there is always something new every half a minute.

My movie poster above is made from 9 images in total. The photo of the figure on the left is a still from the opening title sequence. The picture of the Priest is a photo I took on the day. The sign is from google, along with the stained glass window and I have photoshopped all of these together.

This is my movie poster above. There are lots of clues and hints within it that makes the viewer think and ask questions. The very obvious theme present is religion. The stain glass window and the priest clearly present religion, but somethings slightly off as the Priests face looks worried. This will engage the audience viewing the poster as they will begin to wonder what he is worried about.

The man on the left is looking very sinister, from his blood shot eyes to his facial expression, he looks like he's out on a mission, further raising questions what he is doing. The scratch marks overlayed at the bottom also engages the audience in the way that it foreshadows the violence coming up.

Then we move onto the sign, the sign although very simple raises many questions and engages the audience. The population of the village is crossed out and replaced with another digit in blood. As this represents someone has passed. This detail especially raises many questions and brings curiosity to the viewer.

I think the studio that would buy and distribute is Shudder. Although Shudders speciality is horror, I think Shudders viewers will enjoy this horror thriller. As my product has a target audience, hopefully Shudder will be able to use its algorithms to show my product to the correct audience. In 2020, Shudder had 1 million subscribers, but they are forecasted to have around 2 million in 2022. With this many subscribers all fascinated in the horror/ thriller genre, this will be an ideal streaming service to help distribute my product.

As my product is a niche film with a target audience, I think a streaming release will be ideal for my product. I don't think a cinema release will be necessary due to the genres being niche. As Shudder is a distributor for their own streaming service, they will be find the right niche audience from their subscribers to recommend my product too.

Are marketing campaign isn't going to have a high budget. We are planning on displaying are film at multiple film festivals to help spread are film around. Word of mouth will be the starting point and will help us get are films name known. It would also be ideal to get the word around on social media too. We could get a few pages with big followings to talk and promote are film. This will attract a wider audience. In a month or two we then might have a small cinema release with small cinemas such as small independent cinemas like FACT Liverpool.
